Oberlin, Ohio - The Oberlin College women's soccer team hosted North Coast opponent DePauw for their final match of the 2025 season.
The goalkeeping duo of
Roam Redington and
Alison Grant split halves between the pipes, with Redington appearing in the opening half. Both keepers recorded two saves apiece as Grant concluded her career with 172 saves, ranking fifth in program history.
DePauw opened offensive action in the ninth minute of play, sending a shot from the corner of the penalty box as Redington notched the save. Senior
Elena Foley delivered Oberlin's first attempt, sending the ball just wide of the net from within the box at the 15'. The Tigers quickly regained possession on a breakaway ball to gain a solo opportunity against Redington. Driving right to the front of the cage, DePauw's Jayla Logan was stopped short by an incredible diving save from Redington.
Minutes later, DePauw secured a free kick nearly 30 yards away. Sophia Grueninger drilled the shot towards the top right of the cage. Redington made contact, but coming from such a high velocity, the ball slipped past the sophomore's fingers to find its way to the back of the net. Unable to find another offensive opportunity, the Crimson and Gold trailed the visitors 1-0 going into the break.
As the second frame got underway, DePauw continued to pepper the Oberlin defense, recording three shots and a pair of corner kicks in the first five minutes. Oberlin finally got the offense moving in the 76' when
Lexi Reynolds dropped a corner kick into the center of the goal box. Meeting with
Emilia Rosic first, the shot was blocked by the Tigers before
Sophie Wilson ripped off back-to-back shots.
Jemma Freestone took the final shot for the Yeowomen, aiming the ball just a foot off the left post.
Unable to convert on any of the late opportunities, Oberlin fell 1-0 to DePauw in their season finale. The Crimson and Gold conclude their campaign at 3-10-4 overall, going 0-6-1 in NCAC action. First-year
Molly Button led the Oberlin attack with four goals and an assist, while sophomore
Emma Boyles provided depth to the strong backline.
"Though our season came to an end today, the way this team handled adversity will define us far more than any result," Head Coach
Taylor Houck continues. "With injuries and challenges, we leaned into OCLOVE and continued to compete with purpose and pride. This group laid a strong foundation for the future of our program, and I could not be more proud."
The Crimson and Gold now turn their attention to the spring offseason, where they'll welcome back all but their eight graduating seniors.
