Nye, Green Hit Milestones in Football Season Finale

Delaware, Ohio – Finishing their 2025 campaign on the road, the Oberlin College football team took on Ohio Wesleyan Saturday afternoon.

In his final appearance, Drew Nye led the Yeomen from the quarterback slot, throwing for over 200 yards and crossing the 4,000 passing yards milestone during the game. Rookie duo Miguel Garcia Garcia and JJ Racz did what they've done all season and racked up more than half of the team's yardage. Garcia Garcia led with 82 yards on nine catches, followed by Racz with 62 yards and eight catches. Connor Steele added to the mix with four catches amounting to 48 yards.

Daniel Pressley had a career day with 78 net rushing yards to lead the Crimson and Gold backfield. Jayden Eaton and Lance Slone got in on the action as well, accounting for another 25 yards together.

Judah Moenoa and Zheming Tang had fantastic performances on defense, each recording a sack during the game. Hunter Green co-led the team with seven tackles and a pair of pass break-ups, to finish his career second all-time in tackles with 354.

Kingston Askerneese also chimed in with seven tackles, including three solos. James Chikwe and Ako Taylor II added six tackles each, and Chikwe tacked on a quarterback hurry. Rounding out the defense for the day was Andrew Foley with the team's third pass breakup.

On their second drive of the game, Racz made the first down catch to move the chains six yards forward. Pressley ripped off back-to-back runs to keep Oberlin moving. The biggest play of the drive came on 2nd and 4 when a deep pass to the right fell in the hands of Steele for a 22-yard pickup. Lined up at Ohio Wesleyan's 22-yard line, Pressley rushed again up the middle to convert another fourth down.

The drive extended into the second quarter and facing second fourth down in the redzone, Pressley rushed the ball for a first down conversion. First and goal, Nye was forced out of the pocket, and his pass was intercepted by the Battling Bishops to end the march downfield.

Responding later in the quarter, Oberlin charged 46 yards from their own 17-yard line to keep OWU on their heels. The defense shined in the second frame, holding OWU off the board and taking only a two-score deficit into halftime.

Oberlin continued to hound the home team with Chikwe making a pair of tackles and hurrying the quarterback in their opening drive. On their next possession, Moenoa sacked CJ Jackson on 2nd and 15 for a nine-yard loss.

On the team's final outing on offense, the Yeomen began at their own 35-yard line. A quick pass to Steele at the 50 gave the Crimson and Gold a first down, followed by Garcia Garcia picking up ten yards and another first down. In OWU territory, the Yeomen were unable to connect with their teammates, and ultimately ended the game with a 35-0 loss.

"Team 135 will always hold a special place in my heart.  Their grit and determination are the backbone of our team and continues to be the bedrock upon which we build young men of unbreakable quality." Head Coach John Pont adds, "We thank our seniors for their dedication and leadership and wish them every success ahead."

Despite graduating seven seniors, including QB1 Nye and All-Conference tackler Hunter Green, the Yeomen return a plethora of young talent. First-years dominated the wide receiver corps, the run game, and even the pass protection unit, and Pont and Co. look to develop their sensational rookies into seasoned veterans during spring ball.
