Brooklyn, New York – On the backs of a full-team effort, the Oberlin College men's basketball team took down Medgar Evers, 91-72 on Friday night. 15 Yeomen scored in the trouncing to give Oberlin their second win of the season.
Co-led by
Alasan Njie-Morgan and
Liam Gray, Oberlin's 91 points is the most the team has scored since they scored 93 against Hiram in 2023. The duo added 11 points each, while L. Gray chimed in with three assists.
JJ Gray and
Augustus Donohue each scored nine, with
Uros Petrusic adding eight of his own.
On the defense
Matt Andreopoulos recorded three steals and a rebound, and
Milun Micanovic pulled down six boards.
Rob Magner made the only block of the night, helping to keep the Cougars below 43% from the field.
J. Gray opened the night with a long shot from behind the arc, giving Oberlin the early lead. Andreopoulos added to the score with a layup on a fast break as the Yeomen got rolling against Medgar Evers. Oberlin capitalized on their rotation, scoring 21 points from the bench in the first half. The Yeomen also bullied the Cougars in the paint with 20 points. Capped by a layup and a score on the ensuing free throw,
Sam Kamenko took the Crimson and Gold into halftime, up 42-23.
The Cougars came out growling, with a triple to open the scoring in the second frame. The foes battled back-and-forth, but Petrusic sank consecutive buckets to keep Oberlin comfortable ahead. With a double-digit lead, the Crimson and Gold continued to rotate their bench which led to an impressive 49 points from the reserves. Leading by as much as 26 points, Oberlin dominated the final minutes of the game to clinch their second win of the season.

The Yeomen return to action tomorrow, Saturday, November 15 when they make the short trip north to take on Sarah Lawrence. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
