Oberlin, Ohio – Clinching their second sweep of the season, the Oberlin College volleyball team soared past La Roche 3-0 (25-16, 26-24, 25-17) on Wednesday night at home.

Led by the rookie sensation, Brylie Peters, Oberlin hit .306 through three sets. Peters tallied a team best 15.5 points, made up by 11 kills, four aces, and a block assist. Classmate Mara Geiger also dominated at the net with 12 kills and a solo block on top of two aces.

The defense split digging responsibilities evenly, with three Obies collecting at least five digs. Iris Archibald led the pack with nine, followed by Zeynep Kaya with six, and Josie Macdonald with five. Lucy Goebel and Geiger added a pair of solo blocks, while Goebel notched another two block assists.

Tied at 8-8 in the first set, the Crimson and Gold broke through on an 8-0 run to take dominant lead over La Roche. Oberlin rolled ahead with momentum to keep the Red Hawks at an arm's length and clinch the first set 25-16.

An ace from Jendsen started the second frame, the home team continued their rampage to rally from behind for an 10-8 lead. Battling back-and-forth through five different lead changes, to two foes found themselves deadlocked at 20-20. Kills from Macdonald and Evelyn Welton, kept Oberlin in striking distance. It was the trio of Geiger, Goebel, and Peters that closed out the 26-24 set.

Up 2-0, the Yeowomen wasted no time taking a 6-2 lead over La Roche. Once up, Oberlin never lost their stride and maintained the lead the rest of the way. While benefitting from Red Hawks' errors, Geiger, Goebel, and Peters continued their tirade to seal the victory.

"I'm proud of how we played our game through all three sets." Head Coach Jasmine Brown added, "We showed growth being down in the late 20's during the second set and pushed through to win. I'm hoping to take this momentum into the weekend during homecoming."

Oberlin returns to the court on Saturday, October 11 when they celebrate their senior class. Senior Day festivities are set to begin at 12:50 p.m., with the North Coast match against Wittenberg following at 1 p.m.
