Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Crimson and Gold Face North Coast Rival Kenyon

Gambier, Ohio - Battling North Coast rival Kenyon on the road, the Oberlin College women's soccer team fell 2-0 to the hosts.

Sophomore Roam Redington appeared in the cage for all 90 minutes of the match, tying her career-best seven saves. Controlling possession for much of the game, Kenyon outshot the Crimson and Gold 15-4 and held a 5-1 edge in corners.

The Owls opened offensive play in the tenth minute, sending a shot towards the bottom center as Redington kept the rivals out of the cage. Sophomore Emma Boyles found a scoring opportunity, sending the ball from within the box, but was stopped by the Kenyon goalkeeper. The Owls delivered two more on-target shots during the rest of the period, both stopped by Redington.

Kenyon produced offensive pressure for much of the second half, delivering 11 shots. The Owls opened scoring action at 68:04. Despite making a diving attempt, Kenyon's shot slipped just past Redington's grasp in the bottom left corner of the cage to get the Owls on the board. Carrying the momentum from the opening goal, Kenyon recorded another goal less than two minutes later.

Securing a freekick just two yards outside the penalty box, Boyles found an opportunity to get Oberlin in the net. Sending her shot around the wall of four Owl defenders, the Kenyon keeper made the diving stop to keep Boyles out of the cage. Unable to find another offensive opportunity, the Crimson and Gold fell 2-0 to the conference rivals.

Oberlin will resume league action when they host Wooster on Tuesday, October 28, for their Faculty and Staff Appreciation Game. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
