Oberlin, Ohio – Securing their most dominant win of the season, the Oberlin College women's basketball team took down Kenyon on Saturday afternoon. The Crimson and Gold won by an astonishing 33 points, outlasting the Owls 73-40. Oberlin improves to 4-3 in the conference and 10-8 overall.
Four different Yeowomen finished in double-digits, led by
Krystal Montas with 13 points, five rebounds, and three blocks.
Camille Zinaich also tallied 13 points while shooting 6-9 from the field.
Angela Kumler finished with a team-high five steals, adding to her 12-point game.
Katherine Csiszar had one of her best games of the season with ten points on top of four rebounds and a block and a steal.
The Yeowomen came out strong, outscoring Kenyon 21-3 and holding them to just one basket from the field. Started by a three-pointer from
Anora Lee, Oberlin saw two other players hit from behind the arc.
Kumler drilled the team's fourth triple to begin the second quarter, extending Oberlin's lead to 21. Kenyon picked up the pace to cute Oberlin's lead to 11, but the Yeowomen never slowed down as they outscored the Owls 16-14.
Up 37-17 to start the second period, six-straight points from Ziniach kept Oberlin rolling begin a 47-18 advantage. It was all Crimson and Gold through the third, answering with another 21 points quarter.
Oberlin finished the game with as much momentum as they began, led by rookies
Samantha Dormer and
Gabby Peña-Hilzen. Dormer put away back-to-back layups in the final seconds, while Peña-Hilzen hit a triple for the Obies.
The 73-40 win returns Oberlin to their winning ways ahead of a highly-anticipated rematch against #14 Ohio Wesleyan on the road. Oberlin is set to travel to central Ohio next Saturday, February 1 for a 1 p.m. tip off.
