Basketball Travels for Road Test at Wittenberg

Springfield, Ohio – Traveling to the other side of the state, the Oberlin College women's basketball team took on Wittenberg on Saturday afternoon. Oberlin fell 81-52 to the Tigers, moving their overall record to 8-8 and 2-3 in the NCAC.

Lily Najmulski and Angela Kumler led the Yeowomen in scoring, each earning 12 points. Kumler added three steals and four rebounds, while Najmulski dished out three assists. Anora Lee recorded 11 points, also finishing in double-digits.

The Yeowomen came out strong in the first half, putting up 16 points behind a pair of three-pointers from Najmulski and Katherine Csiszar. The team sat just one point short of the Tigers headed into the second quarter.

Down 20-19, Oberlin struggled to regain their early rhythm, putting up just seven points before halftime. Lee led the team with a three-pointer, while Kumler and Camille Zinaich added a bucket each.

Needing a boost after falling behind 40-31 at the half, Oberlin managed to keep pace with the Tigers and held them to their lowest-scoring quarter of the game. Dead even at 15-15 at the end of the third, Oberlin saw triples from Kumler and Najmulski, while Krystal Montas and Zinaich added a pair of points each.

Just as Oberlin looked to have built momentum against Wittenberg, the Tigers jumped out to a heft lead behind six three-pointers and a slew of jumpers. Oberlin's offense stalled in the final minutes, as the team succumbed to the Tigers.

Oberlin looks to get back to their winning ways when they take the court next in a road test against Hiram. The Yeowomen challenge the Terriers on Wednesday, January 22, at 6 p.m.
