Shelbyville, IN - The Oberlin College cross country teams took to the terrain at the Blue River Course on Saturday at the Grizzly Invitational. The men's side placed ninth out of 21 teams with 245 points while the women's squad ended 11th with 345 points.
Senior
Walter Moak led the Yeomen's effort, placing eighth overall in the 325-runner field as he completed the trek in 25:42.71. Classmate
Jonah Barber was 50 spots back, clocking in at 27:09.22.
Sophomore
Piers Shirk was on Barber's coattails in 27:11.49 to end in 61st place. Second-year Will Gordan and rookie
Daniel Beyda were bunched together coming in 87th and 88th, respectively, with Gordon posting a mark of 27:35.05 and Beyda less than a second behind in 27:35.97.
Seniors
Danny Markey (27:45.31) and
Jerry Achtermann (28:35.18) rounded out the team's top seven, placing 103rd and 158th.
Sage Serraino paced the women's team, ending in 34th place out of 238 runners. The senior from Ashland, Ohio, came through the chute at 24:18.76. Classmate
Caleigh Lyons wasn't far behind in 24:45.88 to place 48th.
Oberlin's three through five finishers were bunched together. Junior
Ella Wozek led the trio in 26:02.09 to place 98th, while classmate
Amber Borofsky followed closely behind in 26:15.09 to finish five spots back. Senior
Camila Ciembroniewicz was 104th in 26:16.47.
Sophomore
Logan Lane (26:51.64 / 122nd) and first-year
Samantha Soto (27:08.58 / 133rd) competed Oberlin's top seven placers.
