Oberlin, OH - The Oberlin College field hockey team finished on the wrong end of a 2-0 decision against the visiting Earlham College Quakers on Saturday morning in front of a homecoming crowd at the Austin E. Knowlton Athletics Complex.
The Quakers netted goals in each half and held Oberlin to just two shots en route to notching their first victory of the season.
Beatrice Meeks put Earlham out in front late in the first quarter with the help of a Meredith McGraw assist. Following the restart it was Alex Ball who snuck around the Oberlin rearguard on a breakaway opportunity after she took a long lead pass from Piper Brill and beat
Janny McCormick in a one-on-one situation.
McCormick went the distance in goal, making eight saves to run her season total to 44 and career account to 178.
Meaghan Kramer also registered a defensive save for Oberlin.
Oberlin surrendered 18 shots in the game with first-year
Mary Rodman taking the team's lone shot on goal in the loss. OC also conceded nine corners and triggered just two.
The Yeowomen have a quick turnaround as the DePauw University Tigers come to town tomorrow for a high noon matchup.
