Men's Soccer Slumps against Otterbein

Oberlin, Ohio- The Oberlin College men's soccer team dropped a non-conference matchup against the Otterbein Cardinals on Wednesday evening. The 3-0 loss drops the Yeomen back to 2-5 on the season ahead of another home match this weekend.

Grayson Benson and Vince Fortuna split time in cage, combining for five saves in the match. Xander Francoeur led the attack with five shots, putting three of them on target. Hudson Gazdak and Graham Field also finished with one shot on cage each.

The Cardinals jumped ahead early, putting away back-to-back goals in the 10' minute, shutting off the Crimson and Gold offense early. Otterbein added one more score before the half expired, holding a 3-0 advantage at the break.

Oberlin struggled to build offensive momentum in the second half, with their best chance coming at the 60' when Francoeur reared up for a shot on net. The fourth-year sent a well-placed shot towards cage, but Otterbein blocked the attempt to keep the Yeomen scoreless.

The Yeomen were unable to convert any shot attempt, ultimately falling 3-0 to Otterbein.

Oberlin returns to Shults on Saturday, September 21 when they play host to Heidelberg. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
