Oberlin, OH - Oberlin College Head Swimming & Diving Coach Alex de la Peña announced the addition of Adam Lenz and Emma Burns to his coaching staff.

Lenz will assist de la Peña with all swimming instruction while Burns will take over as the first full-time dive coach in program history.

The 2024 North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Swimming Coach of the Year, de la Peña is excited to add two experienced coaches to his staff as Oberlin continues its climb within the NCAC.

"Adam and Emma will be great additions to our coaching staff. They truly value the experience for each student-athlete, and that will have a major positive impact on our program." Coach de la Peña continues, "Athletic success stems from a strong team culture where each student-athlete feels like a valuable contributor to the program in the pool, the classroom, and the campus community."

No stranger to Northeast Ohio, Lenz was a six-time NCAA All-American for nearby John Carroll University, helping the Blue Streaks earn four Ohio Athletic Conference team championships while personally securing 13 OAC titles in his illustrious career.

A two-time honorable-mention All-American, Lenz was a skilled freestyler, breaststroker, and IM competitor who is a part of the two OAC relay records and turned in 20 All-OAC performances in his career.

A native of Akron, Ohio, Lenz recently completed his second season as a graduate assistant coach at the University of South Dakota, helping guide the women's program to a second-place finish in the Summit League with the men's squad finishing third in each of his two seasons on staff.

He graduated from JCU in May of 2022 with a degree in exercise science and will be completing his master's degree in sports management from USD this summer.

A former Academic All-Big Ten honoree, Burns spent the past two seasons as a graduate assistant diving coach at Northwestern University while earning a master's degree in sports administration.

A three-year member of the dive program at the University of Illinois, Burns competed with the team for one season before transitioning into a student assistant coach role. She graduated in 2021 with a degree in creative writing.

During her time in Evanston, Burns assisted in all aspects of the program - preparing training plans, technical feedback, video analysis, goal-setting, and recruiting while helping guide three student-athletes to NCAA's during the 2022-2023 season.

Part-time assistant coach Jessica Padilla will continue to serve in the same capacity.

Lenz and Burns officially started their tenure with the program earlier this month.
