Westlake, Ohio — Oberlin College men's swimming and diving senior Chahine Saïd was recognized by the North Coast Athletic Conference on Tuesday morning, earning NCAC Athlete of the Week honors following a standout performance this past week. The honor marks the second time Saïd has received the award, after earning his first in November 2024.

Saïd won six individual events across two meets, three at Ashland on Friday and three against Mount Union on Saturday. At Ashland, he touched the wall first in the 50-yard backstroke (25.47), the 100-yard backstroke (54.88) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:01.12), edging Ashland's swimmer in the 500 by 0.22 seconds.

One day later, Saïd won the 100-yard backstroke again, this time in 53.98, nearly a full second faster than his time at Ashland. He added wins in the 100-yard freestyle (47.07), where he held off Mount Union's swimmer by 0.14 seconds, and the 500-yard freestyle (5:00.54). Saïd also led off the 400-yard freestyle relay and placed second in 3:13.48.

"Chahine did a great job picking up 6 individual wins for our program last weekend in tough competition with Ashland and Mount Union." Head Coach Alex de la Peña said. "He is a talented and versatile swimmer that has stepped up to also help our team in the backstroke events this season as well as continuing to produce in the middle distance free events."

The Crimson and Gold will travel to Gambier on Friday, November 6, to take on Kenyon and Ohio Wesleyan at 5 p.m.
