GREENCASTLE, IN- Earning a victory in their final game of the season, the Oberlin College men's lacrosse team defeated DePauw 9-7 on Saturday afternoon. The Yeomen finish 10-6 in the regular season and an even 4-4 in conference play.

In one of his best games of the season,
Jacob Starcke tallied five goals to lead the Oberlin offense.
Jack Duffy added a pair of goals, while
Sam Ryu and
Solomon Brennan each tallied a score in the contest.

The defense came alive in their conquest of the Tigers, led by
Jake Fields, with five caused turnovers.
Colin Taylor added four more, while
Jonas Taylor-Lillquist collected four in addition to six ground balls.
Jake Pillsbury stopped ten shots on the way to victory.

The Tigers snagged the first goal of the game, but
Trevor Flynn found Starcke off the face-off to tie the game at 1-1. Oberlin responded with another goal after DePauw reclaimed their lead, tying the game again at 2-2 after Ryan Blasbreg forced a turnover on a DePauw clear attempt.

Opening the second quarter,
Andrew Rosa connected with Duffy for the 3-2 lead, and
Edward Totry passed to Starcke for another Crimson and Gold goal. Brennan tallied the last goal of the half for the Yeomen just before the Tigers responded to a 5-3 score at the halftime break.

After staunch defense from both teams opened the second half, the Tigers' offense picked up for three straight goals to reclaim a 6-5 lead. Brennan connected with Starcke to equalize the game at 6-6, but DePauw's momentum carried into the final second when they added another goal to their tally.

It was all Crimson and Gold in the final quarter of play, where the Yeomen scored four goals while keeping the Tigers scoreless to secure the win. Beginning with
Sam Ryu, the third-year capitalized on a man-up opportunity just before
Lewis Moore moved the ball to Starcke for the 8-7, and the game-winning goal. Blasberg hit Starcke at the 2:23 mark for the final goal of the Yeomen's 2024 campaign to mark the score at 9-7.

Unable to make the conference tournament this season, the Yeomen finish at 10-6, an improvement from last year's record when they finished 8-8 overall. Oberlin will take the summer break to reset and replenish a strong graduating class before returning to fall with new goals in mind.
