OBERLIN, OH- Taking on NCAA DII program Findlay, the Oberlin College men's tennis team fell 7-0 at home Saturday afternoon.

In doubles action,
Shawn Lisann and
Rohan Gold teamed up in the top slot to take on the Oilers tandem of Arthur Bord and Dallas Ramsay. The duo earned the first game of the match, but after back-and-forth action, the Oilers won the break to win 6-4. In the No. 2 spot,
Sebastien Naginski and
Zain Makada fell 6-1 before the rookie duo of
Ben Tichauer and
Tory Johansson dropped their match 6-0.

Oberlin looked to fare differently in singles competition, but the DII Oilers were well-prepared, as No. 2 Gold fell first, in 6-1, 6-2 fashion. In the No. 3 placement, Makada mirrored Gold's score at 6-1, 6-2. After playing a competitive first set, Lisann ultimately came up empty in the second set, falling to Findlay's top singles player 6-3, 6-0.

Naginski lost his first set 6-0, but gave his counterpart a fierce return in the second set, forcing a tiebreaker. The No. 4 singles Obie won the first point, then sat ahead of the Oilers 4-1. Findlay's Ramsay won the next handful of points, tying the tiebreaker at 5-5. Ramsay was just too much for Naginski to muscle, winning the last pair of points for a 8-6 tiebreak victory, and a 6-0, 7-6 (8-6) match win.

In the No. 6 singles match, Johansson was overpowered by his Findlay opponent, dropping his match 6-0, 6-2.

Coming alive for the Yeomen, Tichauer earned the only set victory in his first in the No. 5 singles match. Winning 6-3 over Findlay's Maneo Gaborin, Tichauer continued to fight in the second set, but Findlay punched back for a 6-2 win. Moving on to a tiebreaker to determine the winner, Tichauer won the first point before going back and forth with Gaborin until the two tied at 3-3. The Findlay Oiler won consecutive break points to get ahead of Tichauer, with the score at 7-3. The Oberlin first-year battled to come back within striking distance, but Tichauer ultimately fell in the tiebreaker, 10-5.

The Crimson and Gold take a short break to prepare for the Spring Tennis Fest in Hilton Head Island, SC. Oberlin will play a handful of opponents during the spring break tourney, first taking on Grinnell College on Monday, March 25 at 2 p.m. The Pioneers rank 38
th in the country as of the most recent ITA rankings, released on March 6.
