Women’s Lacrosse Finish Spring Break Against Rhodes

MEMPHIS, TN- Capping off their spring break trip in Appalachia, the Oberlin College women's lacrosse team lost to Rhodes 18-6 on Thursday afternoon. The Yeowomen fall to 4-7 on the season.

Six different athletes tallied a goal in the game, all coming unassisted. Maddie Weathers brought in three ground balls and two caused turnovers to lead the defense, while Katie McMorris led the midfield with two draw controls.

The Lynx immediately took control of the game, putting up nine-straight goals before McMorris connected with Larissa Andrick to break the streak. Oberlin didn't score again until Elle Lavin tallied her first career goal to put the score at 10-2. Unable to find any rhythm in the game, the Crimson and Gold gave up another five goals before the half closed.

Down 15-2 to open the third quarter, Oberlin looked to have renewed energy when Olivia Corradi forced a turnover on the defense, clearing the way for an offensive possession. Lauren Mills capitalized on the hard work of the second-year, just before Kaela Wilson scored her second goal of the season off a caused turnover by Caroline Lee. Outscoring the Lynx 2-1 in the third quarter, Oberlin looked poised to mount a comeback in the final 15 minutes of action.

Audrey Koren opened the final period with another goal for Oberlin, but Rhodes had their way with the visitors and responded on a man-up opportunity. Behind 17-5, Megan Hiller added one more goal for Oberlin as they momentum would fall short for an 18-6 loss.

Oberlin will look to put this game behind them when they return to the road for their next match to open up North Coast Athletic Conference action. The Yeowomen will travel to Indiana to take on the DePauw Tigers on Saturday, April 6 at 12 p.m.
