Hiram, Ohio - The Oberlin College men's lacrosse team started North Coast Athletic Conference play in grand fashion, taking down the Hiram College Terriers 19-2 on Wednesday night.
Oberlin scored early and often, cashing in six goals in each of the first two quarters to lead 12-0 at the break and never looked back.
Reigning NCAC Player of the Week,
Jacob Starcke led the charge with season-highs in points (9) and goals (8), running his career account to 80 goals and 96 points in just 24 games played.
Sam Ryu (3),
Zackary Weiss (2), and
Solomon Brennan (2) also scored multiple goals for Oberlin.
The Yeomen won 17 of the game's 24 face-offs and finished with a 42-18 advantage in ground balls.
Trevor Flynn won 10 of 11 battles at the X and picked up a game-high eight ground balls.
Defensively, first-year
Max Revis caused four turnovers and corralled four ground balls to match fellow rookie
Alexander L'Hommedieu, who had three caused turnovers.
Jake Pillsbury made six saves and did not surrender a goal before departing at the midway point of the fourth quarter.
Oberlin has won three in a row and four of its last five to move to 6-2 on the season.
The Yeomen head south for a Monday matinee at Sewanee before returning home to host Ohio Wesleyan in a key conference clash on Saturday, March 30, at 1 p.m.
