LATROBE, PA- Looking to make things right after a tough loss over the weekend, the Oberlin College men's lacrosse team hit the road to take down Saint Vincent 14-10 on Wednesday afternoon. The Yeomen improve to 4-2 overall.

Leading the Crimson and Gold offense was first-year
Sean Obana, who made his Oberlin debut with a pair of goals and three assists.
Solomon Brennan tallied a team-high four goals, while
Jacob Starcke and
Christian Tacogue added three goals apiece. Fellow first-year
Ryan Loughlin also aided in the offensive push with four points, three coming from assists.

Defensively,
Jonas Taylor-Lillquist controlled the Crimson and Gold backline, forcing four turnovers and gathering a trio of ground balls.
Gavin Girard and
Colin Taylor also brough in three ground balls each, while goalie
Jake Pillsbury made his first start of the season with saves.

Trevor Flynn and
Donsou Lee combined for a 20-28 record on the faceoff. Both rookies. Flynn finished at 12-16, while Lee won 8-11.

Obana put the Yeomen on the board in the first shot of the game, but the Bearcats were ready to play and responded with back-to-back goals. Brennan put Oberlin back at even as the two teams were locked at 3-3 headed into the second quarter.

Saint Vincent struck first at the 14:09 mark, but it was Crimson and Gold the rest of the way as Oberlin held off the Bearcats with a 6-0 run. Four different Yeomen scored in the dominant second period, highlighted by a goal from
Asher Friedman at the 8:52 mark.

Coming out of the half, with renewed energy, the Bearcats broke the Yeomen's streak on a fastbreak downfield. In the final 1:20 of play, the game saw a trio of goals, including two for the Yeomen. At :33, Loughlin found Starcke to improve the score to 12-7. The Yeomen scored again just eight seconds later when Flynn won the faceoff and immediately looked to Obana for the shot. With momentum on their side, Oberlin headed to the final quarter with a comfortable six-goal lead.

With the pressure on Saint Vincent, Oberlin sat back on the heels to keep the Bearcats at bay. After giving up a goal at 12:58, the Yeomen held off the home team for another six minutes before they cut the lead to four.
Edward Totry won the ensuing faceoff for the Yeomen, giving way to a Starcke goal at 5:22. Saint Vincent scored once more, but the comeback could not be compete as Oberlin squashed the Bearcats' momentum for a 14-10 victory.

Oberlin stays on the road for their next matchup against Albion on Saturday, March 16. The game is set to begin at 1 p.m.
