Yeomen Cage Bulldogs in Final Home Game of 2024

Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's basketball team closed out their 2024 home season with a victory over Adrian on Saturday afternoon. The 88-81 win moves the Yeomen to 7-3 on the season before their New Year's tournament in California.

Coming up just a point shy of a third straight double-double, Milun Micanovic was a monster on the boards, pulling in a team-high 13 rebounds in addition to nine points. JJ Gray led the offense with 25 points, four rebounds, and an assist, while shooting 7-9 from the free-throw line.

Andrew Gannon also finished in double-digits, notching 17 points, five rebounds, and a trio of steals. Yuuki Okubo also shined the Yeomen's win, hitting a perfect 6-6 of his free-throws and dishing out 14 points, three steals, and four assists.

Oberlin got to work right away with ten straight points in the opening minute, including a layup from Gannon from the tip-off. Maintaining a double-digit lead, Zach Bronson hit a jumper in the paint to extend Oberlin's advantage to 24-13. Adam Navarre capped off a fast-paced first half with a long triple before hitting a jumper in the final seconds for a 44-33 Oberlin lead at the break.

After swapping buckets, Rob Magner notched another trey for the Yeomen at the 13:40 mark. Midway through the half, Okubo stole the ball from Adrian after turning it over himself, before launching it down the court to connect with Gray for the Yeomen's largest lead of the night. As the game progressed, the Bulldogs never came within five of Oberlin's lead for an 88-81 Crimson and Gold victory. Oberlin's second half push was bolstered by 16-21 from the free-throw line as a team.

The Crimson and Gold return to the court when they travel to the west coast for the Cal Lutheran Holiday Classic. In the two-day tourney, the Yeomen begin with a game against Messiah on Saturday, December 28, at 6 p.m. (ET).
