Oberlin, Ohio - Oberlin College football first-years have been busy getting accumulated to the collegiate game throughout the first six weeks of the season and have provided some early returns.
"I have been pleased with the development of the first-year class from the start of camp to where we are at this point in the season," Head Coach
John Pont said. "They have all continued to work hard and they continue to get better every day."
A lot has been put on the plate of Rancho Santa Margarita, California, native
Judah Moenoa as he has been a key fixture on the offensive line. After starting at guard, he has since taken over the starting center role and has developed into a leader of the unit.
Ari Smith has made his impact felt from day one in the secondary, starting all six games thus far. The Baltimore, Maryland, native is tied for the team lead with four pass break-ups and is sixth overall with 26 tackles, including one tackle for loss.
Perryville, Kentucky, product
Lance Slone has seen time in all three phases of the game and has started at linebacker in each of the last two games. On the season, he has totaled 10 tackles and has one catch on offense as well.

CJ Cooper II has been active on offense and in the return game. A native of Smyrna, Georgia, Cooper II has caught five passes and has produced 44 kick return yards on three attempts.
A native of Stone Mountain, Georgia,
Christian Chambliss has appeared in five of the six games thus far, doing work in the trenches on both sides of the ball while also contributing to the special teams units.
Owen Edward, a former Billings West High School player, has fought through nagging injuries to play in four of the six games and has been active on special teams. When healthy he has to ability to provide a spark in multiple ways.
The Yeomen were hoping for big things from Burbank, California,
Kingston Askerneese but unfortunately, the former Sierra Canyon standout suffered a season-ending injury in game one but not before he made five tackles.
Oberlin football is idle this weekend but will be back in action at home on Saturday, October 26 when the College of Wooster Fighting Scots for a noon kickoff.
