Yeomen Come Up Short at Wabash

Crawfordsville, IN - The Oberlin men's basketball team fell 69-62 at Wabash College on Saturday afternoon.

JJ Gray led the Yeomen with 16 points, while sophomore Milun Micanovic registered his fourth double-double of the year with 15 points and a career-high 16 rebounds.

The Little Giants jumped on the Yeomen, grabbing a 13-4 lead five minutes into the affair. The Yeomen would settle in, shrinking the gap down to three, 22-19, on a Gray jumper at the 6:21 mark. An 11-4 Wabash response had the differential back to 10, 33-23, but the Yeomen would finish the half strong, scoring the final seven points of the session to make it just a 33-30 halftime deficit.

Oberlin trailed 37-35 early in the second half but the Little Giants would break the game open with a 17-4 burst that ballooned the lead out to 15, 54-39, at the midway point of the second half.

Oberlin would continue to battle, shrinking the deficit down to seven, 57-50, on a  Dimitrije Radusinovic layup with just under five minutes to go. A Yuuki Okubo jumper had the Yeomen within six, 61-55, with 94 seconds left to play and a Will Bousquette III triple-hit made it 63-58 with just 32 ticks left to expire but the Little Giants were able to hold off the Yeomen down the stretch to finish off the victory.

Oberlin has dropped three straight to even its record at 9-9 overall and 3-6 in the NCAC. Wabash improved to 10-8 and 6-3 in league play.

The Yeomen will host the Tigers of Wittenberg on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
