GROVE CITY, PA - After a fierce 90 minutes, the Oberlin College men's soccer team finished their match against Grove City in a scoreless draw on Wednesday night. The 0-0 battle moves Oberlin to a winless 0-2-1 overall record.
How it Happened
After much of the opening minutes played on defense, Oberlin took their first shot in the 20'. A rocket from Nathan Thompson soared high of the net as the Yeomen remained off the board. A slew of substitutions following the shot gave new life to Oberlin in the hot weather, but the Crimson and Gold remained tied 0-0 with the Wolverines.
Grove City controlled the start of the half once again until a shot from Enrique Porras Jr. gave Oberlin an offensive boost. Minutes later, senior captain Nasim Amer attempted to get the Yeomen on the board in the 63'. Oberlin's best chance at getting ahead in the scoreline came when first-year Leo Pelizzari-Astle drove the ball to low-center of the cage. Grove City's Teddy Almeter made the stop to keep the game scoreless, while the rookie's attempt went down as Oberlin's only shot on goal. At the end of full-time, neither team was able to convert any shots into goals, ultimately giving way to a 0-0 draw.
