Oberlin, Ohio - Oberlin College first-year Namu Makatiani was selected to compete in the triple jump at NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will take place next weekend (May 25-27) at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, New York. 

Makatiani enters the event as the 22nd seed after his school-record performance of 47-11 (14.60m) from May 12 at the Baldwin Wallace University Harrison Dillard Twilight meet. 

Makatiani is one just two freshmen to qualify in the triple jump, joining Dieumerci Migani of George Fox University. 

The athletic department's newcomer of the year, Makatiani was second in the triple jump at both the North Coast Athletic Conference the indoor and outdoor conference championship meets. 

The triple jump will take place on Saturday, May 27 at 1:30 p.m. Fans can follow along with live results and live video.
