Marietta, Ohio - The Oberlin College baseball team suffered a 5-0 loss at Marietta College on Wednesday afternoon.
The Yeomen mustered just two hits as Pioneers starter Brett Carson (3-2) struckout 10 over seven innings, allowing just one hit and one walk. Reliever Forrest Havanis worked the final two innings, surrendering a hit and a walk to go along with one punchout.
Oberlin committed three errors over the first two innings as the Pios pushed across single tallies in each of the first two innings.
Oberlin starter
Jay Aghanya (2-3) tossed the front four innings, giving up four hits and two runs but just one of those was earned. He also struck out five and walked three in the loss.
Marietta greeted reliever
Ty Weatherspoon rather rudely in the fifth, scoring three runs in the inning on four hits. Ben Kaplin delivered the big blow of the frame with a two-out, two-run double.
The lone Oberlin hits came via
Yianni Gardner and Ethan Hurtwitz.
The Yeomen have now dropped eight straight games, falling back to 9-18 on the year.
Oberlin will be back in action tomorrow, welcoming Heidelberg University to Dill Field for a 4 p.m. matinee.
