Springfield, Ohio – The Oberlin College women's lacrosse team took on the Tigers of Wittenberg for a Saturday matchup that saw a trio of Yeowomen score multiple goals. Winning the NCAC matchup 15-6, Oberlin improves to an even 7-7 on the season and earns their first conference win.
Lauren Mills dominated the Tigers' defense, putting away a team-high five goals, followed by
Megan Hiller and
Abbie Patchen who tallied three each. Senior
Ellie Jensen scored just one goal, put posted three assists in the win. On the defensive end,
Janny McCormick made a career-best 13 saves while the two-way senior, Jensen, gathered sever ground balls and six draw controls.
Oberlin scored right out of the gates as Jensen found Hiller for the score. Hiller connected with net again before Wittenberg added a pair of goals to tie the game. Mills and Hiller each capitalized on a free position before the end of the period as Oberlin sat on a 4-3 lead. Scoring the first and last goals of a much quieter second quarter, Patchen led the Yeowomen to a two-goal advantage at the half.
Scoring five-straight goals after the break, the Crimson and Gold dominated the third quarter as they began sailing past Wittenberg. After a Jensen free position goal,
Alexis Escobedo and
Alee Holman-Evans tallied scored to extend Oberlin's lead to nine. Mills tallied a last-second goal as the clock expired as the Yeowomen moved past the Tigers 15-6.
Oberlin remains on the road for their final away test of the season, as they head to Gambier to take on the 21
st ranked Kenyon Owls. The first draw goes up on Tuesday, April 25 at 5pm.
