Yeomen Bit by the Cougars

Pittsburg, PA - The Oberlin College baseball team dropped its seventh straight game, falling 7-4 at Chatham University on Thursday night.

The season-long struggles for Justin Fuls (0-3) continued as he lasted just three innings with his longest outing of the year being just 5.1 innings. Fuls gave up four runs (three earned) on four hits and four walks to go along with one strikeout.

Chatham led 6-1 after four innings with the lone Oberlin run during that stretch coming in the second via Jay Aghanya's RBI double that sent Ethan Hurwitz across the dish.

Oberlin would push another run across in the fifth on an RBI groundout by Jake Blozy and would later put some pressure on the Cougards by plating a pair in the seventh to get within two late in the contest. Aghanya led off the frame with a single and would race home on Max Cairo's double down the left field line. The Yeomen would get a second run on a first-and-third double steal play.

Unfortunately, Oberlin was unable to shrink the deficit down the stretch as they put two aboard in the eighth but could not score before going down in order in the ninth.

Aghanya had three of the Yeomen's eight hits while Vince Dolcemaschio finished with two on the night.

Oberlin fell back to 9-17 with the loss, while Chatham set a new school record for wins in a season, moving to 14-15.

The Yeomen are scheduled to be back in action on Sunday for a Senior Day doubleheader against Capital University.
