Women’s Tennis Outlasts Wooster

Oberlin, Ohio - The Oberlin College women's tennis team gutted out a 5-4 win over the College of Wooster on Friday night at the John W. Heisman Field House.

The Yeowomen took both of the contested doubles matches in its North Coast Athletic Conference opener to put the pressure on the Scots. In the top position, Anna Pastore and Marta Laska were 8-6 winners over Otilia Oita and Janaki Jagannathan, while the No. 2 tandem of Dina Nouaime and Lydia Zafeiri were 8-2 victors over Cherry Patlolla and Katie Materick.

With the Scots getting three points by default, Oberlin would still need to bring its 'A' game into singles action and the Yeowomen did just that.

Laska was a 6-4, 6-3, winner over Oita in the top flight while Nouaime earned a 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) triumph over Patlolla at No. 3.

The No. 4 battle went the Scots way, leaving the second flight to determine a winner.

Pastore answered the call and came up clutch for Oberlin, earning a 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 7-6 (7-5) win over Jagannathan to give Oberlin the victory.

The win ran Oberlin's record to 7-6 overall and 1-0 in the NCAC.
