Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Oberlin Lacrosse Stifled by Allegheny Defense

Oberlin, OH – On a sunny Saturday at home, the Oberlin College women's lacrosse team hosted Allegheny. The Yeowomen struggled to create offensive momentum as the Gators took the game 14-4 as Oberlin moves to 0-2 on the season.

In the low-scoring affair, Audrey Koren led the Yeowomen with a pair of goals, while Lauren Mills and Megan Hiller added one each. Abbie Patchen dished out three assists, while Kaela Wilson and Mills brought in three ground balls each. Sophia Ferrantelli earned the start in cage for the Crimson and Gold, tallying 16 saves.

Allegheny opened the game with a quick pair of goals as Oberlin battled to maintain possession. The Gators tacked on another couple of goals before the end of the quarter, to sit on a 4-0 lead. The visitors added on more goal before Koren capitalized on a free position shot to put the Yeowomen on the board. Patchen connected with the junior attacker again to move the score to 6-2 ahead of halftime.

The former conference foes battled back and forth throughout the third quarter, with neither team really able to maintain possession. Begging at the 9:26 mark in and continuing until the 11:29 mark in the fourth quarter, Allegheny put up five unanswered goals. First-year Hiller cut short the Gator run off a draw and dump pass from Patchen. The Yeowomen scored just once more before the final whistle, coming off the stick of Mills for her fifth goal of the season.

Oberlin hits the road for their next game on Wednesday, March 1 against John Carroll. The Blue Streaks and the Yeowomen get going at 6pm.
