Wooster, Ohio - The Oberlin College defense came away with a season-high four takeaways but the offense couldn't find its footing as the Yeomen fell 36-0 at the College of Wooster on Saturday afternoon.
The Yeomen held the Scots to 20 less points and 36 less yards than a season ago.
Brandon Hall led the spirited defense effort with 13 tackles, while
Luca Friedman added 11 stops in the loss.
Hunter Green made eight tackles, recovered a fumble, and partnered with
Jackson Bloomfield on a half sack, while senior
Leander Herman also recorded a sack to go along with seven tackles.Â
Colten Danel registered an interception for the second straight game, while fellow rookie
James Chikwe notched his first-career INT. First-year
Derek Daly also scooped up his first-career fumble recovery.Â
The Scots scored 34 points in the first half, scoring on six of their first seven drives, but the Yeomen defense would pitch a second-half shutout with the lone points coming on a safety.
Unfortunately, the Oberlin offense failed to find much success with their longest drive of the day covering just 40 yards on six plays.Â
Drew Nye was under duress all game long as he was sacked five times, completing 16-of-29 passes for 112 yards and one interception. Freshman
Jackson Garlick was his top target with seven catches for 42 yards.Â
The Yeomen will cap off the 2023 season next Saturday at league rival Kenyon. The opening kickoff is set for 1 p.m.Â
