Wooster, Ohio – Picking up her third 20-point game of the season,
Alyson Jefferson led the Oberlin College women's basketball team to a dominant win over Wooster on Wednesday night. In the 83-34 blowout, the junior put up 20 points, four rebounds, and a pair of assists in the team's conference opener. Obe3rlni moves to 8-4 on the season and 1-0 in the NCAC.
Behind the hot hands of Jefferson,
Gina Lombard put together an even stat line of nine points, five rebounds, and three assists. With an impressive six steals,
Bryana Woodard added another seven points and five rebounds in the game.
The Yeowomen stormed onto the court and put up 13-straight points before the Fighting Scots got on the board at the 1:39 mark. Five different players scored while sharp-shooter
Lily Najmulski hit the first three of the period.
Opening the second quarter with a trey and a pair of free throws, Jefferson added another jumper in the paint before Woodard drove up court to extend the Yeowomen's lead to 22. As the clock hit zero, the Crimson and Gold head back to the locker room 36-17 advantage at the half.
Continuing their momentum, the Yeowomen steam rolled the Fighting Scots for the first 3:06 of the third quarter while going on an 11-0 run. Oberlin extened their lead to as much as 34 points behind a
Jaedyn O'Reilly three-pointer before moving into the final period of play. The Crimson and Gold couldn't miss in the final ten minutes of the game as they closed out the one-sided battle 83-34.
In their largest victory of the season, the team tallies their seventh win this season that has come by double-digits.
The Yeowomen look to keep the momentum rolling as they continue the conference action this Saturday, January 7 against the Denison Big Red. Tipoff is set for 1pm
