Greencastle, Ind. – The Oberlin College women's basketball team hit the road on Wednesday night to take on the DePauw Tigers. In a lopsided matchup, the Yeowomen fell 68-47 as they move to 10-6 on the season and 3-2 in the conference.
The Yeowomen struggled in the early minutes of the game, not scoring until
Jaedyn O'Reilly hit a three-pointer at the 6:13 mark. The Tigers put up seven unanswered points until Oberlin struck next to close out the quarter with back-to-back jumpers.
Alyson Jefferson put up two points early before
Lily Najmulski hit a three as the Crimson and Gold battled to stay in the game. DePauw's offense continued to dominate the court with another ten unanswered points as the Tigers moved up 32-17 over the Yeowomen at the half.
After not scoring more than nine points in either quarter, the Oberlin offense picked up the pace going point-for-point with the Tigers. For the majority of the quarter, the defense stood tall, only allowing DePauw to score off free throws. The Yeowomen put up 16 points with ten coming in the paint.
Down 51-33 and looking to make a huge comeback in the final period, Jefferson got the scoring started with a three-point play off a foul. The offense sputtered after that, allowing DePauw to go on another double-digit run to insure their victory at home.
Resting for only a couple days, Oberlin looks to bounce back against their NCAC rival on Saturday, January 21. The matchup with Kenyon is set for 2pm
