Oberlin got off to a slow start in the opening set as John Carroll got up 10-2 early. A string of points, led by
Lucy Myers with a kill and an ace, brought Oberlin back within two, but the Blue Streaks ultimately prevailed as Oberlin suffered untimely errors. Set two looked to be better as Oberlin held strong with their opponent but again, JCU withstood the attacks of the Yeowomen and went up 2-0 in the match.
Â
Needing a big win in the third set,
Cami Sweet opened Oberlin's scoring efforts as
Iyanna Lewis and Jones added to the score in the following serves. Tied at 9-9, the Blue Streaks got ahead on a couple of big runs before the two foes met at 24-19. In a final effort to keep the match alive, Jendsen set up Jones for a kill but it was too little too late as John Carroll took the match, 3-0.
