Game Recap: Softball |

Yeowomen Swept by Kenyon

Gambier, OH- The Oberlin softball team traveled to NCAC rival, Kenyon, for a doubleheader matchup on Thursday night. The Yeowomen fell in back-to-back games by scores of 12-4 and 9-5. The squad moves to 6-14-1 and 0-4 in conference play.

Katie Austin earned the pitching start for Oberlin and battled the Ladies for three innings before Alaina Di Dio came in for relief. The duo flipped roles in the second game with both ultimately earning losses.

In game one, Oberlin held off Keyon in their first inning, but the Ladies put up six runs in the second to take the lead. Over the third and fourth innings, the Yeowomen got on the board with four runs led by Loren Carter who singled up the middle to bring two runners home. The Crimson and Gold were unable to score again as Kenyon took game one 12-4.

Oberlin flipped their strategy in game two as they started off the game on the board first and with a 3-0 lead entering the third inning. Cat Moruzzi led the rally with a double into right field that brought both Mia Brito and Lalli Lopez home. The Ladies responded with nine unanswered runs to retake the lead before Oberlin scored just twice more to close the game.

The Yeowomen return home for their next set of NCAC doubleheaders, starting with Ohio Wesleyan this Saturday, April 9. The game times are set for 1pm and 3pm with live stream available here and live stats available here.
