Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Battling Bishops Spoil Yeomen Senior Day

Oberlin, OH- Celebrating the four seniors of the Oberlin men's lacrosse team prior to the game, the Yeomen battled until the final whistle but came up short to Ohio Wesleyan 16-10. Suffering their second NCAC loss, the Yeomen move to 5-2 in the conference and 11-3 overall.

Ryan Blasberg dominated the crease with a trio of goals to lead the Crimson and Gold offense, aided by Michael Muldoon and Niko Maheras who scored a pair of goals each. Muldoon also tallied an assist as well as a ground ball. On the opposite end, Kiernan Stone came up with seven ground balls in a strong defensive stand while starting cage-minder Eugene Kang made 15 saves.

The Ohio Wesleyan squad opened the game with three straight goals in before Muldoon put Oberlin on the board with his 32nd goal of the season. The Yeomen added another score to their tally but not before OWU tallied a goal to maintain a two-point lead. Headed into the second quarter, the Bishops held off the Yeomen until the 4:00 mark when Blasberg scored off a faceoff win from Connor Quinn. OWU scored twice in the final minute of the half to bring the score to 9-5 ahead of the break.

Coming out of the locker room, the Yeomen capitalized off a penalty as Tom Decker found Muldoon for a rocket of a goal. The two teams swapped goals before defender, Stone picked up a ground ball off the faceoff and sprinted downfield for a quick score. As the third quarter came to a close, Maheras and Decker ripped off a pair of great shots in :46 to close the lead to five. Oberlin looked to mount a comeback with another pair of quick goals in the fourth quarter, but unable to connect on a slew of shots, the Yeomen fell 16-10 to the Bishops.

The Crimson and Gold now look ahead to a huge matchup with NCAC rival, the Kenyon Lords. The Yeomen will travel to Gambier next Tuesday, April 26 for a 4om date. A live stream will be available here and live stats available here.
