Oberlin, OH- The Oberlin women's lacrosse team defeated Wittenberg in an 15-12 battle on Wednesday evening. With a handful of Obies earning hattricks in the game, the Yeowomen move to 1-3 in the conference and 5-8 overall.

Three Yeowomen tallied four points, led by
Abigail Patchen with four goals and
Lauren Mills with a hat trick and an assist. Without scoring a goal,
Bette Imhoff tallied four points on four assists.
Reilly Jackman and
Izzy Sunday also tallied a hat trick, while
Caroline Lee put up one of the best performances of her career with five ground balls and five caused turnovers. Also having a career day,
Kaela Wilson brought in six draw controls, chipping in another three ground balls and a caused turnover.

The Yeowomen got rolling early, running up the score by six in the opening quarter. Started and ended by Patchen, Jackman and Sunday tallied a pair of goals each during the onslaught. The Tigers managed just two goals to end the quarter but opened the second period with a pair of goals as well to come within two of the Yeowomen lead. Midway through the quarter, Mills capitalized on a man-up opportunity to double up on Wittenberg 8-4. Back-and-forth in the final minutes of play,
Emily Shimabukuro capped the half with a free position goal to secure a 10-6 lead.

Making her collegiate debut in this game,
Katie McMorris won the opening draw of the second half to pass the ball down to Imhoff who found Sunday to complete the first-year's hat trick. The visiting Tigers ended the quarter with a goal from their leading-scorer, Jessica Flick, to bring the score to 13-8. The two teams swapped goals at the begging of the fourth quarter before Wittenberg looked to make a comeback in the final minutes. After putting up a pair of late goals, the Yeowomen were able to hold off their NCAC opponent for a final score of 15-12.
