Oberlin, OH- Oberlin's women's lacrosse team opened North Coast Athletic Conference action at home against Wooster on Saturday afternoon. In a game that needed extra time to decide a winner, the Yeowomen fell 13-12 to the Fighting Scots. The OT drop puts Oberlin at 3-6 on the season and 0-1 in NCAC play.

Senior captain
Bette Imhoff had a career day on the defensive end, causing eight turnovers, a career best and second in the record books for CTs in a single game. The New Hampshire native also brought in seven ground balls to match her current best from 2020 and led the team in points with a pair of goals and assists.
Lauren Mills,
Maya Blevins, and
Kaela Wilson also bolstered the defense and transition as they accounted for five ground balls each.
Sophia Ferrantelli earned the start in cage today, making 17 stops which is a new high for the first-year.

Imhoff got Oberlin got on the board first to start the game before Wooster responded with a pair of their own goals. The Crimson and Gold offense caught fire for a 3-0 run to retake the lead at the end of the first quarter. The Fighting Scots got back on track right away as they evened the score just two minutes into the second quarter. A back-and-forth game already, Imhoff connected with Mills to put the Yeowomen back on top.
Emily Shimabukuro followed up with her first of the day of a fastbreak pass from
Ellie Jensen. The home team kept rolling and a man-up goal from
Audrey Koren secured the one score lead at the half.

Just as they did to open the second quarter, the Fighting Scots put two goals away in the opening minutes to take an 8-7 lead.
Reilly Jackman responded to tie the game before Koren capitalized on a free position to flip the lead. As the battle for the lead continued, Jackman found the back of the net again for a tied game at to start the fourth quarter. 10-10, Oberlin struck first as Shimabukuro scored her second of the game. On par with the rest of the game, Wooster responded at the 2:51 mark to tie the match. Shimabukuro made magic happen again off a pass from Jackman before Wooster found the equalizer with 1:45 remaining. As the final seconds ticked away, Ferrantelli made a huge save at the doorstep of the cage to keep the Yeowomen in the game. A good clear for Oberlin was the final play of regulation as the team headed into overtime.

Earning the first possession of OT, Oberlin worked the ball until Mills got off back-to-back shots on goal. After making two saves, the Fighting Scots cleared the ball downfield and earned a free position attempt from a yellow card foul. Wooster's Syd Schuster scored on the opportunity to clinch the victory for the Fighting Scots as they advance to 9-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.
