Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Yeowomen Fall to #24 Denison in Road Matchup

Granville, OH- The Oberlin women's lacrosse team took on the 24th-ranked and reigning conference champions, Denison Big Red on Saturday afternoon. The Yeowomen fell 19-5 to the NCAC powerhouse to move to 0-3 in the conference and 4-8 overall.

Scoring a pair of goals each, Bette Imhoff and Lauren Mills paced the way for the Crimson and Gold offense. Abigail Patchen and Ellie Jensen also chipped in for Oberlin, each with an assist and Patchen with a goal. Jensen also brought in a team-high six draw controls as well as a ground ball and a caused turnover. Sophia Ferrantelli held the reigns of the defense with a near season high of 13 saves. Campbell Kohls also guided the back line with two grounds balls and just as many caused turnovers.

The Big Red got on the board first, but Oberlin's Imhoff responded on a successful free position attempt. The Yeowomen were unable to score again until the 2:50 mark of the first quarter when Jensen found Mills to bring the score to 5-2. The Denison squad responded with a 5-0 run into the second quarter, creating a seven-point lead. Mills would find the back of the net just once more for Oberlin as the team headed into the half, down 11-3.

Denison earned a running clock just seconds in to the third quarter to move up on Oberlin 13-3. Although the Yeowomen scored to stop the clock one minute later, the Big Red overpowered the visitors through the remainder of the quarter. The Big Red scored just twice in the final period of play, but Oberlin got the last goal as Patchen scored unassisted for a final line of 19-5.

The Yeowomen continue their NCAC campaign next Wednesday, April 20 as they host Wittenberg. Draw will go up at 4pm with a live stream available here, and live stats available here.
