Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Oberlin Lacrosse Overcome by Rhodes

Sewanee, TN- In an early Sunday matchup, the Oberlin lacrosse team suffered their first loss to Rhodes College. The 22-8 defeat marks the Yeowomen's first loss of the year and moves the team to an overall record of 2-1.

Bette Imhoff and Audrey Koren scored a pair of goals each in the loss while Imhoff pulled in five draw controls and caused a trio of turnovers. Starting the game in cage for Oberlin was Logan McDermott-Mostowy who made four stops before swapping out for Sophia Ferrantelli who added another five sages.

The game opened in favor of Rhodes, as the Lynx scored the first pair of goals before Lauren Mills and Emily Shimabukuro connected to put Oberlin on the board. It wasn't until much later in the quarter that Imhoff found the back of the next to cut the Lynx's lead to 6-2.

A strong second quarter for Rhodes extended the Lynx lead to 13 as the Yeowomen struggled to settle the ball on their offensive half. The Lynx kept rolling into the third quarter with four more unanswered goals until a scrum for possession in front of Rhodes' goal led to an own goal by one of the Lynx defenders.

Izzy Sunday opened the fourth quarter with a quick goal off the draw control of Maya Blevins before Imhoff added to her tally. After a quiet first half, Koren finally got on the board with back-to-back goals. Fighting until the end, Annie Payne put the ball in the back of the net right at the buzzer for a final score of 22-8.

The Yeowomen come home for a five-day break before heading south again to take on Centre. The away game will take place on Saturday, March 12 and start at 1pm with live stats available here.
