Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Yeomen Swept by Big Red on the Road

Granville, OH – The Oberlin men's basketball team travelled south to Denison on Saturday afternoon for an NCAC matchup. The Big Red took down the Yeomen in 70-58 fashion. The loss moves the Crimson and Gold to 5-15, while they sit at 3-11 in the conference.

The Big Red got on the board first, but not after the Yeomen defense held them off for the first couple minutes. After a slow start for the offense, Wolf Moser got the first points for Oberlin on a jumper in the paint. Aidan Oliver kept the offense running with a shot from behind the arc, before Dorde Otasevic stretched out for a layup to bring the Yeomen within three. Midway through the half, Cole Otley scored a basket to take the 11-10 lead for Oberlin. The visiting squad couldn't hold the lead though, as Denison closed the half on a 27-9 run, but the Yeomen got the final say with a jumper from Otasevic. The teams headed into the locker rooms with Denison up 37-22.

Oberlin opened the second half with an early three-pointer from Otasevic. Oliver put up another three-pointer minutes later to bring the score to 41-30. The Big Red scored seven unanswered points in response, to strengthen their lead. Another three-pointer, this time knocked down by Moser, closed the gap within ten but a quick response from Denison put the score back up by 11. Down 63-45 with 3:01, the Yeomen looked to Moser for the long shots and the senior guard delivered. Knocking down back-to-back treys in 50 seconds, the Yeomen looked to mount a comeback but too little too late was the story as Denison held off the Crimson and Gold for a final score of 70-58.

The Yeomen look to bounce back next Monday, February 7 in a non-conference matchup against Earlham. Tip-off is set for 7pm with live stream available here and live stats available here.
