Men’s Tennis Drops a Tight One to Kalamazoo

Oberlin, Ohio - The Oberlin College men's tennis team finished on the wrong end of a 5-4 decision against Kalamazoo College on Saturday afternoon at the Heisman Field House.

The Yeomen's No. 3 doubles pairing picked up their first point of the day as Rohan Gold and Grant North were easy 8-1 winners over Adnan Alousi and Parker Foster.

Oberlin was gifted the win in the top singles flight as Hornets ace Ian Yi was forced to leave with an injury to give Sean Billerbeck a win by retirement.

James Dill gutted out a three-set victory in the second position, falling 4-6 in the first stanza to Casey Johnson before rallying to win 6-4 in the second and 11-9 in the super-breaker.

North was a double winner on the day for the Yeomen as he got by Tieran Rafferty with relative ease at No. 6 by the scores of 6-1, 6-2.

Unfortunately, the Hornets were able to prevail in flights three through five to earn the win.

Oberlin is off next week from competition but will return to the courts on March 12 against Tiffin University.
