Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Yeomen Cage the Bulldogs

Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's basketball team closed out the first semester of play with a 66-56 wire-to-wire victory over the visiting Adrian College Bulldogs on Tuesday night at Philips Gym.

Senior Dorde Otasevic notched his third straight double-double, scoring 13 of his 18 points in the second half to go along 14 rebounds as he paced the Yeomen with seventh double-double of the year. Anastasis Spyroglou stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, eight rebounds, and four assists in 24 minutes of work off the bench, while rookie Milun Micanovic chipped in eight points and six boards in 11 efficient minutes of action.

A 10-0 Yeomen run that was capped off by a put-back layup from Cole Otley gave the Yeomen a 17-7 advantage with 7:42 left in the first half. A steal-and-score fastbreak layup by Asaan Snipes-Rea extended the cushion out to 14, 25-11, with just over five minutes left in the opening frame but the Yeomen ultimately settled for a 27-17 lead at the intermission.

An Andrew Gannon triple-hit at the 11:37 mark of the second half increased the differential out to 15 and one of four long-distance connections from Otasevic swelled the Yeomen lead out to 20, 51-31, with 9:04 left to play.

However, Adrian didn't go away without a fight, getting back to within 11 with 3:30 still to go. It was later down to just nine, but less than 60 seconds remained on the clock as the Yeomen were able to finish off the victory.

The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Yeomen as they head into the holiday break at 4-7 while Adrian fell back to 2-4.

The Yeomen shot 42.4 percent, cashing in 25 of the 59 shots they hoisted while holding the Bulldogs to just a 32.8 percent (21-of-64) clip. OC also outscored Adrian 30-16 in the paint and turned 15 Bulldog turnovers into 16 points.

Oberlin will now rest up for the holidays before returning to action at home on December 30 against Penn State Altoona. Tip-time is set for 5 p.m.
