New Concord, Ohio – Before they dug into their turkey dinner, the Oberlin College women's basketball team gobbled up the Muskies of Muskingum University on Tuesday night. With a 54-36 victory, the Yeowomen improve to 4-2 on the season.
The sophomore forward from Ohio led the way for the Yeowomen again as
Bryana Woodard put up 14 points and five rebounds in the game. Just behind Woodard was
Alyson Jefferson with her fourth game this season in double-digits. The junior tallied ten points and three rebounds. Co-leading the team in rebounds,
Jaedyn O'Reilly and
Camille Zinaich pulled down seven each while combining for eight points.
After losing the tip-off, Woodard blocked the Muskies first shot before driving for a layup seconds later. Muskingum and Oberlin swapped leads until
Anora Lee helped settle the Yeowomen with a three-pointer. The OC crew maintained their advantage until the 4:01 mark when the Muskies climbed their way to a 21-21 tie. In the final shot of the half,
Lily Najmulski hit a shot from before the arch to give Oberlin the halftime lead.
Keeping their momentum rolling, Oberlin held MU off the board for the first five minutes of the half while putting up five points of their own. The Crimson and Gold added to their comfortable 12-point lead to start the fourth quarter and never looked back. On the backs on an impressive second half performance, Oberlin cruised to a 54-36 victory.
The Yeowomen get back in action next Tuesday, November 29 back home against Mount Union. Tipoff is set for 7pm with a live stream available
