Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches to the high-powered Spartans of Case Western Reserve on Saturday afternoon, falling 9-0 and 8-1.
In match number one the Yeomen's closest doubles battle came in the second flight as the duo of
Sam Topper and
Rohan Gold took four points off of Diego Maza and Earl Hsieh in the 8-4 loss.
In singles play,
Sean Billerbeck had a tight second set with Jonathan Powell at No. 2 as he dropped the first 6-0 but took four points off him in the second.
At No. 5,
Ben Echikson also fought hard against Micael Sutanto, falling by matching 6-3 counts.

Elliot Nuss were able to secure four games from Matthew Chen and James Hopper.
The first two singles flights were also closely contested as Nuss gave Vishwa Aduru a challenge at No. 1 but ultimately fell short by identical 6-4 scores. Billerbeck and Chen would also go swing-for-swing at No. 2 with the Yeomen sophomore falling 7-5, 6-3.
Oberlin's lone team point of the day would come at No. 4 singles where Gold and Sutanto were locked up in a 6-6 tiebreak with Gold leading 3-2 before Sutanto retired with an injury.
