Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

First Half Charge Leads Yeowomen over Tigers

Oberlin, Ohio- Battling a small snowstorm the night before, the Oberlin women's lacrosse team showed up to take down Wittenberg on Wednesday evening. A five-goal performance from senior Tess Siciliano led the Yeowomen to the 16-2 victory.

Freshman Olivia Molfetta won the opening draw for Oberlin and moved it downfield to Siciliano for the first goal of the game. Once up, the Yeowomen didn't look back, scoring three more goals in the next five minutes. Up 4-0 early in the game, Siciliano scored her third goal of the game earning herself a hat trick and putting Oberlin up 4-0 over Wittenberg. Reilly Jackman got in on the scoring action next, notching her first goal of the year off a feed from Siciliano at the 20:42 mark. Sara Fields accounted for the next two goals, tallying her first career assist followed by her first career goal. It was Jackman again off a feed from Leah Crowther that put Oberlin in double-digits over the Tigers. Midfielder Bette Imhoff scored back-to-back goals over the next three minutes before Siciliano and Fields scored to close out the half, Oberlin up 14-0 over Wittenberg.

The second half got off to a slower start as the Yeowomen worked the clock down before scoring their goal. A drive down the middle of the eight from Kyra Aviles put the ball in the back of the net and gave OC their first goal of the half. Back-and-forth action ensued before Fields found Audrey Koren to put Oberlin up 16-0 with 14:46 to go in the half. The Tigers finally found an answer to the Yeowomen's attack off a fast-break to end Oberlin's shutout. The Tigers scored the final goal of the game at the 2:19 mark, but too little, too late as the Yeowomen defeated the Tigers in a 16-2 blowout.

The Yeowomen take the field again on Saturday, April 24 as they host Ohio Wesleyan for their third game of the season. Opening draw is set for 1pm.
