Swimming & Diving Opens Busy Weekend at Cleveland State

Cleveland, Ohio – The Oberlin College swimming and diving team made the short trek to Cleveland State University for a double dual against the host Vikings and Division II Findlay on Friday night.
 
The Yeowomen fell to the Oilers 188-50 and to Cleveland State 169-67. The Yeomen ended on the wrong end of a 159-42 count against Findlay and fell 199-34 against CSU.
 
In the first individual event of the night Rachel Maxwell and Charlotte Hantus placed third and fourth, respectively, in the 1,650-yard free. Maxwell completed the journey in 19:53.34 with Hantus close behind at 19:57.34.
 
Hannah Hale continued to impress, posting a mark of 2:02.95 in the 200-yard free to place fifth and later returned to grab a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard free in 55.99.
 
In the 50-yard free Elisabeth Ragone and Ellie Frost each finished ahead of the top CSU swimmer as Ragone was fourth overall in 25.20 while Frost placed fifth in 25.36.
 
First-year Bella Sites turned in a pair of strong swims in the 400-yard IM and 500-yard free. In the shorter of the two races she placed sixth in 4:57.21 and she was fifth in the 500 at 5:25.92.
 
Isaac Viviano guided the men's team effort, turning in a fifth-place showing in the 500-yard free with a time of 4:58.64. He would later add a sixth-place finish in the 100-yard breast with a mark of 1:01.99.
 
First-year Dylan Bechtold and sophomore Sam Blau also impressed in the mile as Bechtold was third in 17:35.11 with Blau coming in fourth in 19:33.05.
 
The YeoSwimmers have a short turnaround as they are back in action tomorrow afternoon at Ashland University.
