Tigers Sour Senior Day for Yeowomen
fhockey |
Oberlin, OH – The Oberlin College field hockey team honored its six senior members prior to the start of the contest but the visiting DePauw University Tigers spoiled the celebration as they earned a 4-0 win over the Yeowomen on Saturday afternoon at the Austin E. Knowlton Athletics Complex.
Seniors
Elizabeth Modahl,
Zoe Martin del Campo,
Bonnie Wileman,
Audrey Kamal,
Lea Watkins-Chow, and
Julia Vincent each received recognition for their dedication to the program.
Vincent highlighted the seniors' effort with a career-high 21 saves in the setback.
The Yeowomen did not threaten much on offense, failing to attempt a shot in the match.
The Tigers put 25 of their 33 attempts on frame as Vincent did her part to keep the Tigers in check for much of the contest.
After a scoreless opening quarter, the Tigers posted the game's first goal at the 18:02 mark when Maddie DeAscentis snuck one past Vincent. Sarah Goff would finish off a feed from Christina Bourantas late in the second quarter to give DePauw a 2-0 advantage at the intermission. They would later add two more tallies in the fourth quarter to cap the game's scoring.
DePauw, which had an 25-0 advantage in penalty corners, moved to 3-7 on the year and evened up its conference record at 1-1 while Oberlin dropped back to 0-10 and 0-2 in league play.
The Yeowomen have a short turnaround as they host Earlham College tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.
