Crawfordsville, IN - The Oberlin College men's soccer team entered the game needing a win to keep their hopes alive at a potential postseason berth, but it wasn't in the cards for the Yeomen as they settled for a 1-1 double overtime draw at Wabash College on Saturday afternoon.
With the result, the Yeomen end their season at 5-9-4 and 3-4-2 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.
The Yeomen, who played from behind for the bulk of the contest after a 20th-minute goal from the Little Giants, triggered 13 shots in the contest and put five of their attempts on goal.
Oberlin would find the equalizer in the 70th minute as Nic Jandeleit cashed in his 11th goal of the year and 22nd of his career with the help of a Ethan Long feed for his first-career assist.
Moments after the game-tying tally,Long nearly put the Yeomen out in front but Michael Bertram was there to corral the shot.
Down the stretch of regulation, Jandeleit also sent two attempts high off the mark and after not attempting in the shot in the first overtime, Warner Serrano had one sail wide right in the 108th minute before the final horn would sound on the Yeomen's season.
Colvin Iorio made his second straight start in goal, making six saves over the 110-minute affair.
The Little Giants fired off 24 shots with seven attempts being on goal. They also earned eight corners compared to the Yeomen's two. Wabash will also find themselves in the NCAC Tournament field at 11-5-2 overall and 4-3-2 in league play.
The Yeomen will bid farewell to their 10 seniors and begin preparations for the 2022 season in the spring.
