Oberlin, OH- After celebrating their five seniors during the pregame, the Yeowomen battled through 90 minutes of action against the Wooster Fighting Scots, but ultimately fell to the conference foes 4-2. The loss sets back the Oberlin squad to 7-7-1 and 3-3-1 in the NCAC.
Â
The Wooster Fighting Scots got off to a hot start in the beginning of the match scoring their first goal at the 3:28 mark. Down 1-0, the Yeowomen attacked the Wooster defense with a slew of four shots, all on cage. Almost exactly two minutes after the first goal,
Heather Benway found
Zoe Garver across the box for the equalizer. Tied at 1-1, the game continued the fast-paced action, with both teams battling for possession in the midfield. In the 31', Garver got in the scoring action again as she found
Maya Blevins right in front of the cage to take a 2-1 lead over the Fighting Scots. Responding quickly to the goal, the Wooster attack made their way down field to notch a goal as the half came to a close with the teams tied at 2-2.
Â
Right as the second half got underway, Blevins moved the ball down field, looking for her second score of the evening, but sent the shot off the crossbar. Seconds later,
Adrienne Sato took aim at net, with a side shot that was saved by the Wooster keeper. Over the next twenty minutes, both teams were even in possession, each looking for the goal to put themselves ahead. In the 80', Wooster found their answer as they slipped through the Yeowomen backline and tapped the ball into the net to go up 3-2. Less than five minutes later, the Fighting Scots scored an insurance goal to secure victory over Oberlin. Wooster played out the remainder of the clock to take a 4-2 win on Shults Field.
