Voit Improves Qualifying Mark at ONU, Jung-Beeman in the Mix

Ada, OH/Medford, MA - Select members of the Oberlin College track & field teams had their last chance to qualify for next week's NCAA Championships at a pair of meets on Saturday.

In the Polar Bear Final Qualifier, Aislinn Cannistraro took fourth in the long jump with a distance of 1.59m (05-02.50) to remain outside the national qualifying mark of 1.67m.

First-year Chilly Wallace entered trying to improve upon her 60-meter Hurdles time of 9.26 but unfortunately posted a mark of 9.39 which remains outside of the top-17 national time of 8.92.

In the pole vault, Sarah Voit improved her season-best mark from 3.82m (12-06.25) to 3.87m (12-08.25) with a second-place finish in Saturday's meet. The sophomore was already safely inside the nationally qualifying standings as she sat in a tie for seventh coming into the day. Grace Finney was unable to improve upon her season-best height of 3.43m (11-03.00) as she put up a mark of 3.27m (10-08.75) to finish in fifth.

Malaika Djungu-Sungu was also unable to improve upon her season-best mark of 11.47m (37-07.75) in the triple jump as she posted a distance of 11:04m (36-02.75) and failed to qualify for next week's NCAA Championships.

It was a similar story for Adriano Atallah in the 200-meter dash as he was also unable to improve upon his season-high mark of 22.25 as his time of 22.44 keeps him nine spots outside of qualifying for nationals.

At the Tufts National Qualifying Meet, Oona Jung-Beeman was able to improve on her 800-meter time as she lowered it to 2:15.54 to currently qualify for NCAAs pending the rest of Saturday's results.

Marija Crook was not as fortunate in the 3000-meters as she could not beat her season-best time of 10:08.49 as she crossed the line in 10:16.01 to remain outside of the top-17.

Next weekend's NCAA Championships get underway in Winstom-Salem, North Carolina on Thursday, March 12.
