Siciliano got the scoring started early as
Leah Crowther set her up for a tally 21 seconds into the contest but Sewanee would answer quickly 34 seconds later to tie the score at 1-1.
Back-to-back goals by Imhoff put Oberlin ahead 3-1 at the 23:29 mark but Sewanee scored four of the next five goals to take a 5-4 lead. The Yeowomen countered with four straight markers by
Kyra Aviles,
Ali Wessel, Crowther and Payne over a 6:38 stretch to retake the lead at 8-5 with 10:09 left in the opening stanza.
The Tigers roared back with three consecutive tallies of their own to tie it back up but Payne would score less than a minute later to put her team ahead by one, 9-8, before a Siciliano goal with 52 seconds remaining sent the teams to the break knotted at 10-10.
The second half was a much quieter affair with Sewanee scoring twice in the first five minutes and change to jump ahead by two goals. Payne would score a pair of timely goals to pull Oberlin within one, first at 12-11 and then at 13-12 with 17:55 remaining on the clock.
This time the Tigers answered quickly as they responded 24 seconds after Payne's second marker to regain the two-goal advantage before adding another just over half way through the stanza to push their lead to three at 15-12.
Siciliano gave the Yeowomen late life as she netted her third goal of the game, this time unassisted, with 9:10 remaining but both teams went scoreless down the stretch as Sewanee staved off Oberlin by two, 15-13.
