Yeomen Swat Yellowjackets 7-2

Box Score Oberlin, OH – The Oberlin College men's tennis team defeated the University of Rochester Yellowjackets 7-2 inside of Heisman Field House on Friday afternoon.
 
The Yeomen took two of the three doubles points thanks to their top flights as the No. 2 pairing of Elliot Nuss and Stephen Gruppuso cruised to a 8-2 victory before Camron Cohen and Sean Billerbeck won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles after jumping out to a 4-1 lead. Rochester would salvage a point at No. 3, dispatching Henry Bulkley and James Dill 8-5.
 
Gruppuso took the top singles flight in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 before Cohen followed that up at No. 2 singles in a super breaker 3-6, 7-6, 1-0 to push the Yeomen within one point of clinching the match at 4-1.
 
Dill rebounded from his doubles loss in a gritty three-set super breaker as he won the first set 6-4 and dropped the second 6-2 before ultimately winning the deciding the third set.
 
With the match already determined, Zachary Vaughn won the first set at No. 3 singles 6-4 but eventually fell in three sets, 6-4, 6-7, 0-1.
 
To close out the match, Nuss won the No. 6 singles flight in straight sets 6-0, 6-2 before Billerbeck was victorious at No. 5 singles in another super breaker 6-1, 3-6, 1-0.
 
The Yeomen have a quick turnaround as they return to the Heisman Field House tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. to square off with the Hobart College Statesmen.
